Voltage Regulator 7805 IC
7805 voltage regulator IC is used to regulate 12-volt power supply to 5-volt power supply for microcontroller and operational amplifier. From the front side of the IC, we can see 3 leg or pin. The left pin must be connected to 12-volt DC. The centre pin must be connected to ground. The right pin is the 5-volt output voltage. A heat sink is required for heat dissipation and can mount at the back of the IC.
Diode
Diode consists of anode and cathode. Diode IN4007 is used to connect between 12-volt power supply to voltage regulator IC. Diode allow current to flow in one direction only. Diode IN4001 is connected between relay as a protection from spike. The spike can damage a transistor that controls the relay.
