VoIP Basic

VoIP is voice over internet protocol. To start talking for free using VoIP, we need to have internet connection and a PC. Also a free software phone on a PC called softphone such as Skype to enable us dial the IP address of our friend and start talking. Also we need a microphone and a speaker.

Unlike normal telephone connection, VoIP is using a packet based. Voice is transferred to the destination using a packect just the same like internet data. As a result the quality is not the same like normal telephone.

Using VoIP we can talk for free all the time as long as internet connection is available. Also the distance is not a factor for high call charge rate. With VoIP talking to long destination also is free.

Call duration also can be as long as we like. With normal telephone connection, distance and duration of call will determine the charge rate. But with VoIP distance and duration is not a factor.

Software for VoIP also is free. I have download and tried free Skype software to make VoIP call and I found it is good. I don’t have to pay any extra phone bil.
