Using VoIP Through Normal PSTN Telephone
PSTN stand for Public Switch Telephone Network. This is our normal telephone at home. In order to use this telephone, I line of RJ11 cable is connected to our telephone at home to the Telecom Exchange. In office, PABX is used to interface telephone between office unit. This is to save cost.
Normal PSTN phone is provided by local telecommunication company. This phone is not VoIP phone. However, we can transform this phone to become VoIP phone. To do this, we need a device call ATA. ATA stand for Analogue Telephone Adaptor.
This is how the connection should be :
- First, connect the Normal PSTN to the ATA. This connection should be made using RJ11 cable.
- Second, connect the ATA to the ADSL Modem or LAN. LAN is local area network, normally in the office.
Now, the normal PSTN phone is ready to call out using VoIP network. As a result, the call charge rate will reduce.
